Work is progressing on the two exciting projects happening near the River Leven: the Levenmouth Connectivity Project and the River Park Programme. While there are no immediate changes planned for the existing concrete path directly beside the river, there’s still plenty happening to improve how people move through and enjoy the area.
Although a full design to upgrade the riverside path has been completed, construction is not currently funded, so the path itself will remain as-is during this phase. That said, both projects will significantly enhance connections and accessibility along and around the river.
The Levenmouth Connectivity Project will create a major new walking, wheeling, and cycling route between the new Cameron Bridge and Leven train stations. This will serve as a vital link for all, improving travel options and connecting Levenmouth communities to new opportunities.
Meanwhile, the River Park Programme focuses on opening up access throughout the wider River Park. A network of accessible grass paths will invite people to explore more of the area, while a hard-surfaced route from the eastern end of Poplar Road will connect directly to the existing riverside path — providing inclusive access for all.
Importantly, the park will remain open throughout construction. Core paths will stay accessible, and any temporary restrictions will be clearly marked to ensure safety while work is underway.
In short, while the riverside path won’t be upgraded just yet, the area around it is set for a big transformation — one that makes the River Leven more connected, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
