We’re pleased to share a progress update on the ongoing improvement works at the River Park at the bottom of Duniface Bridge and behind the Methil Mill site.
One of the key improvements currently underway is the construction of a new accessible ramp leading up to the riverside walk. This will make the route far more inclusive and easier to use for everyone in our community.

While the structure of the ramp is progressing well, it is not yet complete. We had hoped to lay the hard surface as soon as possible; however, the recent spell of very wet weather has unfortunately delayed this stage of the project.
In order to ensure a high-quality and long-lasting finish, we need a period of dry weather before the final surface can be installed. This will prevent the new surface from sinking into the soft, muddy ground when our construction partners, Mackenzie Construction, lay it down. We appreciate your patience while we wait for more favourable conditions to complete this important section safely and properly.
This second photo shows the newly extended pond area already transforming this part of the park. Here a grass path and boardwalk will be added.
The next phase of works in this area will include:
Installing a grass path (with proper foundations to keep it dry year-round) running alongside towards Duniface Bridge
Constructing a boardwalk at the pond
We believe this new board walk and pathway will create a beautiful, peaceful space within the park, somewhere residents and visitors can enjoy quiet walks and take in the wildlife. It’s an exciting development that will enhance both accessibility and the natural character of the area.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the residents and park users of Poplar Road for their patience while part of the road remains closed. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your continued understanding.
Please be assured that we are working as quickly as possible to complete the works and reopen full access.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses and to welcoming everyone to enjoy these new improvements very soon.
