On Sunday 21st September, from 11am–3pm, River Park in Levenmouth will come alive with history as we host a special Archaeology Open Day. This free community event offers a rare chance to explore the exciting excavation of Methil Mill, a historic watermill on the banks of the River Leven believed to date back to the 18th century.
Visitors will be able to see an archaeological dig in action and meet the team of archaeologists and volunteers working hard to uncover the story of Methil Mill. From unearthing artefacts to piecing together how the mill was built and used, the site is already revealing fascinating clues about Levenmouth’s industrial heritage.
This open day is for everyone – whether you’re a local history lover, a family looking for an engaging day out, or simply curious to learn more about the past beneath our feet. You’ll have the chance to handle some of the finds, chat with the experts, and discover how archaeology connects us to the people who lived and worked here centuries ago.
Bring your curiosity and come along to River Park on the 21st – we can’t wait to share this journey into Levenmouth’s history with you.
